Frozen Fun

An alternate project would be to freeze dinosaurs in an ice cube tray. Miniature figures, such as the ones pictured below, would work best for this method.

Scavenger Hunts

Farm animal scavenger hunt and song activity

Choose one of the popsicle stick craft options and then stick them in the ground around the library. After each child finds one, sing the Old McDonald Farm song and the child(ren) holding the animal makes the sound when you reach that part of the song.

Storybook walk

  • CEF has a portable storybook walk that is available for loan to libraries and schools. It can be set up indoors or outdoors. The height of the stands is adjustable and you can fill the base with water for extra stability if they are outside.

The storybook walk is listed as barcode 38787220628489 in the catalog. It can be set up with one of three books at this time:  Everybody Can Dance, Sunset Hike (which is a little more text-heavy than we thought it would be), and a local history book, The Commodore:  Friend of Crab Island. Each stand has a two-page spread, so the number of stands depends on the length of the book that you choose.
