Some animals have long been used as service dogs and workers. Their jobs vary greatly from dogs who sniff out dangers and illness, to service dogs, and emotional support animals, farm and transportation workers, as well as search and rescue workers. In fact there is a history of the Dalmation dog breed as fire helpers. One of the most important service that dogs can provide is that of a therapy dog. There are famous star actors such as Rin Tin Tin, Lassie and Beethoven, and the most are familiar with the famous Toto in the Wizard of Oz movie. Horses are also used for ranch work, police work, and as therapy animals. Cats can be used as emotional support animals and can be very valuable companions for people.
