Want to know more about careers in environmental sustainability sciences and how you can help improve and solve some of the environmental health issues?
Here are just a few:
There are many statistics that show the cost comparison between recycling verses landfill wastes. In many cases it is more expensive and ecologically unfriendly to send wastes to the landfill versus keeping the recyclable and reusable items separate. New community initiatives and programs such as Freecycle are keeping things out of the landfill as well. Not only is there a cost incentive to separate trash from recyclables, but there are ways and things that we can do that will helps others as well. Another cool initiative that people have taken is called upcycling. People are even exercising with a twist by picking up litter (of course with gloves or better yet a trash picker-upper) while jogging which they call plogging. Another movement that has been popular is the "tiny home". Downsizing is another way we can reduce our environmental footprint, save resources, as well as be more economical. We can all try to set small goals and take steps to a greener environment, it's a win-win situation.
